Tamarisk Country Club

Tamarisk Country Club has a rich history rooted in inclusivity and camaraderie. Founded in the 1950s by a group of forward-thinking business investors, the club was designed to be a place where diverse members could come together. Its mission was to promote democracy, tolerance, integrity, character, love of golf, and companionship with fellow members. The name “Tamarisk” pays homage to the resilient nature of the indigenous shrubs and trees that can withstand any weather conditions. It’s a testament to the club’s commitment to enduring values and creating a welcoming environment for all.

Tamarisk Country Club has a storied history in the world of golf. It had the privilege of having Ben Hogan, one of the greatest players in golf history, as its first Golf Professional. Hogan’s influence helped shape the club’s traditions. He was succeeded by Ellsworth Vines, who was not only a talented golfer but also an accomplished tennis player, being among the top ten in both sports.

In 1969, Tamarisk gained recognition for its exceptional course and magnificent greens. It was chosen as one of the four clubs to host the inaugural Palm Springs Desert Classic, later known as the Bob Hope Desert Classic.

As time went on, Tamarisk expanded its golf programs to include frequent charity and couples tournaments in the 1990s. Today, the club continues to evolve with a newly renovated clubhouse while maintaining its legendary status on the golf course.
